Canadian lumber production down 24% through three quarters

   Moscow. Nov 26, 2009. /Lesprom Network/. Canadian lumber production in September gained 16% from the previous month and reached its highest level since November 2008, but production through three quarters still trailed the year-ago pace by 24%, as Random Lengths reported.

Statistics Canada reported output at 1.7 billion board feet for September, 13.9 billion board feet year to date. Output in British Columbia reached 858 million board feet in September, the most since April, and 1.7 billion board feet year to date. Ontario's gain of 32% from August was strongest of any province, but the year-to-date decrease of 35% was topped only by Nova Scotia and the B.C. Central Interior. At 2.1 billion board feet, Alberta production was down just 9% through three quarters.
